In this crazy world of technology in which I have a love/hate relationship with, I often wonder about how our kids play now & how we played when we were the small ones. I don't remember having a huge amount of toys or spending hours in front of the TV. We spent many hours building cubby houses & forts. And I don't remember my Mother having to encourage imaginative play. It is something I think about as Im not huge on craft or playing with plastic toys, pretending to be a Monster or something else ridiculous! Alright probably not ridiculous but its just not my thing!
Just this week these great images were shared with me & they made me laugh so much. I knew my James would love this stuff but I held back in showing him as I really want to give it a go myself over the coming weeks!!!
For many months when Ms Bella was born, we created some areas for James to play in when he got up each morning. It was a great way to give him something to do while I was feeding Bella for up to an hour at a time! Now thats a whole other story! He loved it & that little habit of playing with his toys first thing in the morning has not gone away. I love it, as I always get an hour in the morning for a little work & now little Ms Bella follows her brother around & they mostly play well together .. MOSTLY! Not always!
Check out these images!!
These parents rock!!! They were asked why do they do it?
"Because in the age of iPads & Netflix, we don't want our kids to lose their sense of wonder and imaginations. In a time when this answers to all the world's questions are a web-search away, we want our kids to experience a little mystery. All it takes is some time and energy, creativity & a few plastic dinosaurs. Childhood is fleeing, so lets make sure it's fun while it lasts."
I know I won't be the only parent to agree 100% with this.
I looked back on our photos & I am now glad that I have been given some inspiration!!! We really need to up our game!

Ok this was James! Not me! But funny view of our lounge!
With all the inspiration & the know how, we created this little mess for James & Annabelle to enjoy this morning. It was so funny! He blamed Daddy straight away! I did hide my camera & will share at some point their reaction but I have to learn how to edit my half naked body in the background! Not pretty!
Not very original but something all the same …
Will try to come up with a little creation every night & something that will encourage play in the morning! Maybe minus the food!! Sometimes we get so busy & forget to show our little ones how to play. I think its important & something I would really like to encourage! Maybe when they are older they will forget that I never did 'Craft' but remember this ….!
Share if you are on board! Sure why not! Its all fun!
